List of winners of the Royal Philharmonic Society after 1945

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list includes the compositions commissioned by the Royal Philharmonic Society (RPS) since 1945 , the works dedicated to the society, if they have been performed, and the winners of the RPS Composition Prize and Music Awards ).

After 1945 the practice had changed with the introduction of a composer's prize and a music prize.

For the period before 1945 see list of works commissioned by the Royal Philharmonic Society . The winners of the gold medal ( Gold Medal ) can be found on the main page of the Royal Philharmonic Society .

The RPS awards are divided into:

  • Honorary membership, since 1826, irregular;
  • Gold Medal, since 1871, irregular;
  • Composition Prize, since 1948, annually
  • Music award or music award, since 1989.
  • The Music Awards are given in different categories. This includes the prices in large-format compositions (listed here).

Music Award awards are also given for: audience education; Chamber music and singing; larger chamber music compositions; Concert series and festivals; Conductors; Media; Music education; Ensembles; Instrumentalists; large-format compositions (included here); Opera and musical theater; Singers and young artists.

An award from the Royal Philharmonic Society always means a breakthrough, international recognition, of a musician or composer.
