Fährstrasse advertising pillar

The advertising column Fährstraße is under monument protection standing advertising column in Magdeburg .

The stone pillar stands on the corner of Bleckenburgstrasse and Fährstrasse in the Buckau district of Magdeburg .

They were set up in the second half of the 19th century. It is the last surviving copy of its kind in Magdeburg and is likely to be one of the oldest advertising pillars still in existence. The column has a stone base and a helmet also made of stone. This is designed as a dome-shaped roof with an indicated beaver tail covering . The pommel crowning the roof and the overhanging roof edge had been lost. When the column was refurbished in the second half of the first decade of the 21st century, the pommel and roof edge were restored. The column body received a striking red paint. Currently (as of October 2009) the listed advertising pillar is not in use as a carrier for posters .
