Livonese at 96 kopecks, 1765

Livonese or Livonaise (derived from the Latin, non-Cyrillic coin inscription "MONETA LIVOESTHONICA" ) was the name of a Russian silver coin . It was made in whole (96 kopeks ), half (48 kopeks) and quarter pieces (24 kopeks) with a weight of about 26 g (or 13 g, 6.5 g) and a silver content of about 75 percent embossed. On the front was the bust of Tsarina Elizabeth (Russia) and on the back the Tsar's eagle. The coin was issued by the Tsarina in the Baltic countries of Livonia and Estonia from 1756/57, the beginning of the Seven Years' War . There were also four kopecks (approx. 1.1 g) and two kopecks, which instead of the image of the tsarina had two coats of arms.
