Punch card translator

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A punch card translator was able to print the contents of a punch card in legible writing in a selectable line on the punch card. A punch card had 80 columns, one character (one byte) fit into each column. However, only 62 characters fit into a printed line on the punch card. However, it was also possible to print content that was not on the punch card, for example the invoice amount. The punch card only contained the individual values. As a rule, there was a separate program on its own plug-in card for each important card type.

Note: several lines could also be written with several programs in several runs.
