Loring W. Tu

Loring Wuliang Tu (born August 17, 1952 in Taipei ) is a Taiwanese-American mathematician.

Tu studied at McGill University and Princeton University and received his doctorate in 1979 under Phillip Griffiths at Harvard University (Variation of Hodge Structure and the Local Torelli Problem). He has taught at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and Johns Hopkins University and is a professor at Tufts University .

He has been at the Institute for Advanced Study , the University of Paris VII and the Institut Henri Poincaré , among others .

Tu dealt with algebraic geometry (including Hodge's theory), differential geometry and algebraic topology including a textbook with Raoul Bott on differential forms and algebraic topology.
