Lovely planet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lovely Planet is a first-person shooter - and platformers Run video game, which the Indian Indie -Studio Quick Tequila developed and tinyBuild is issued. It was released in July 2014 for Windows , OS X and Linux . The version for Xbox One came out in January 2016, and that for PlayStation 4 and Wii U came out in April 2016.

The game received mixed reviews from critics, with praise for its graphics and soundtrack , but at the same time criticism for its presentation and difficulty level.

Gameplay

The game is a speed running focused first person shooter where the player has to complete the level as fast as possible in order to progress. There is no action, but “micro levels” that are contained in larger areas. If the character is hit by a bullet, falls down, or is touched by an enemy, they will die instantly and the player must remember the level structure to win.

The player's weapon has no crosshairs and the bullets move slowly, forcing the player to control their shots. Players can earn up to three stars based on how quickly they complete a level, with the third star requiring perfect accuracy.

Certain objects also force the player forward, e.g. B. Apples that have to be shot from the sky, otherwise they will kill the player when they hit the ground.

reception

According to the review aggregator Metacritic , the game received mixed ratings.

The game's art style and music have been compared to Katamari Damacy by several critics .

PC Gamer's Tyler Wilde gave the game 82 out of 100 and called the gameplay "great" despite being "merciless" but said the rendering was "mediocre" because it was too "abstract" to be appealing.

Tim Latshaw from Nintendo Life gave the Wii-U version 6 out of 10 points and compared the contrast between the “cute” graphics and the “technical” mechanics “like opening a Hello Kitty backpack and finding nuclear start codes”. He explained that "committed speed runners" would like it, but otherwise "limited".

Hardcore Gamer's James Cunningham rated the game a 2/5, saying the need for extremely accurate gameplay "took the fun out of the action."

András Neltz from Kotaku found the discrepancies between the game's graphics, music and twist mechanics "disturbing".
