Air booking

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Air booking is a slang term for an intentional accounting error , where a booking is made without an actual business background, often with fraudulent intent. It is to be differentiated from the sham business , in which several parties simulate a contract.

At NICI AG , for example, business transactions were fictitious and incorporated into the balance sheet by means of air bookings in order to simulate higher sales . These types of balance sheet falsifications were intended to trick the banks into obtaining higher credit lines . The company Phenomedia falsified the amount of sales with similar air bookings. In some cases, the air bookings are integrated into a pyramid scheme. This was the case at Balsam AG and at FlowTex . The loan fraud at FlowTex took place via a combination of bogus sales and leasing back.
