Luis Cruz , full name Luis Alberto Cruz , (born April 28, 1923 or April 28, 1925 in Montevideo , † 1998 ) was a Uruguayan football player .

Player career

The 1.73 meter tall, "Huevo" called midfielder Cruz, who was used in particular both in the position of the central half and on the left wing, began his career in 1944 in Divisional B at Deportivo Juventud . In 1945 he played for the Montevideo Wanderers . Cruz was then from 1946 to 1957 in the ranks of the Uruguayan first division club Nacional Montevideo . In 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1955, 1956 and 1957, the Bolsos each won the Uruguayan championship in the Primera División . He played his last game for Nacional on August 25, 1957 against Danubio .

National team

Cruz was a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed eleven internationals from his debut on March 1, 1953 to his last appearance on July 3, 1954. He did not score an international goal. He took part in the 1954 World Cup with Uruguay . In the course of the competition he was used in five games. Cruz was also part of the Uruguayan squad at the South American Championships in Peru in 1953 and in Chile in 1955 .
