Luis Manuel Torres Salinas is a Mexican football coach and former defender player .

Life

Torres was part of the championship team of Deportivo Toluca FC in the 1974/75 season and played for the Diablos Rojos until the end of the 1976/77 season, when he moved to CD Tampico for the coming season .

A year or two later he switched to CD Coyotes Neza , which was represented for ten years between 1978 and 1988 in the Mexican Primera División . Between 1980 and 1982 he was under contract with Club Atletas Campesinos , which was only top notch in these two seasons. For the 1982/83 season he returned to Tampico and played again for the Jaiba Brava , which had just been renamed the Tampico-Madero FC .

He then returned to the Coyotes Neza, where he joined the coaching staff after completing his active career and led the team through the last five games of the 1987/88 season after the club had separated from previous head coach Miguel Marín . Under his direction, the Coyotes won three times and lost only one game. But after the impressive 5-0 win against the Freseros de Irapuato on June 12, 1988, the last matchday of the season, his first activity as head coach in the Primera División was already over because the club withdrew from the first division.

In the 1990/91 season he led the relegated Atlante to the championship in the Segunda División and thus managed the direct promotion. In the following first division season 1991/92 he was in charge of the Gallos Blancos Querétaro for a period of twenty games. With a record of three wins, seven draws and ten defeats, he was replaced by Tomás Boy after the 3-0 home defeat to Cruz Azul on January 12, 1992 .
