Lyophile

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lyophil (Greek: lýein “to solve” and philein “to love”) means in chemistry easily soluble or solvent- absorbing. It is the opposite of lyophobic , hardly soluble or does not absorb any solvents.

The two terms are used in colloid chemistry . When a dispersed particle is lyophilic, it tends to interact more with a liquid dispersant than with like particles.
