Málmey (pronounced Maulmey) is an island in Skagafjörður in northern Iceland .
It is a 4 km long, narrow lava formation, which is separated from the mainland by the 5 km wide Málmeyarsund . It is located about 10 km north of the next town Hofsós in the municipality of Skagafjörður .
The island is only inhabited by one family. There are impressive bird cliffs on Málmey, for example at Cape Kringla in the south of the island. You can explore the island by boat from the settlements on the coast.
