Garbage tourism

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Waste tourism (also waste tourism , for dangerous substances toxic waste tourism ) is the colloquial name for the transport of waste over long distances, especially from a state to another. The term was based on tourism , i.e. H. the movement of people over long periods of time.

Waste tourism can be used to recycle or dispose of garbage and is of concern if it is disposed of in countries that do not take adequate precautions to protect the environment .

Garbage tourism contradicts the European principle of disposing of the generated garbage close to the place of origin. The Basel Convention ( Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal ) of March 22, 1989 applies in particular to hazardous waste .
