The M474 was in the 1960s in the United States developed missile launch vehicle based on a modified M113 chassis, which for the start and transport of the Pershing I was conceived.

Conception

The Pershing I (MGM-31) was the US forces’ first short-range ballistic missile to be deployed outside the US. According to the operational doctrine of the MGM-31, the system should be mobile and be able to act largely autonomously. The Pershing-I system alongside the USA, only by the missile squadrons of Air Force used.

Four M474s were used in the first version of the MGM-31. One M474 carried the missile, another the warhead and two more M474s acted as the "Guidance and Control Section" (G&C) and as a generator.
