NITF (image file format)

NITF ( N ational I magery T ransmission F ormat ) is a file format for storing image data and additional information.

The NITF format is used by the US Department of Defense to store and exchange digital image data. In addition, the format in the header can contain additional metadata . The current version is version 2.1, which is documented in the military standard MIL-STD-2500-C.
