MT9

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MT9 (also Music 2.0 ) is an audio codec being developed by the South Korean ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute).

In contrast to MP3 , MT9 should support multiple audio tracks and no digital rights management should be implemented. The separate audio tracks make it possible to fade out individual instruments and voices or to control the volume separately.

The format was selected as a candidate for the new digital music standard at a regular meeting of the Moving Picture Experts Group in late April 2008 in France. Industry giants such as Samsung and LG have already promised support for the format .
