Power word

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A power word is the final decision made by a decision maker at the end of a fruitless discussion . It is a special case of a unipersonal decision-making process in which the decision maker is solely responsible for making the decision.

In contrast to consensus decisions , compromises or majority decisions , a decision by power word is only possible where there are clearly defined competencies or power structures. The Pope's ability to speak words of power ( “Roma Locuta - Causa finita” ) is proverbial; the German Chancellor , on the other hand, only has authority to issue guidelines . The technique of the word of power in German politics is rather unusual.
