The Mahnkesche Mühle is the last historical mill in the German Hanseatic city of Stralsund . After years of decay on the Mahnkescher Wiese near the Rügen Bridge , the mill was reconstructed in the Stralsund zoo by 2012 .

It is a Dutch earth mill from the second half of the 18th century. In 1958 the company switched to an electric drive. The mill was in operation until 1968.

In 1980, parts of the mill, which also includes a granary, a machine house and a mill house, were damaged by fire. The mill, which stood on an area called Mahnkesche Wiesen near the Rügen dam ( location coordinates: 54 ° 18 ′ 16.7 ″  N , 13 ° 6 ′ 6.9 ″  E ), was 16.10 meters high. Their diameter was 13 meters on the ground and 5.30 meters on the lower edge of the roof hood. The cast iron shaft, which was in operation until the 1920s, weighs 3.4 tons and was made by the Stralsund mill construction factory Otto Hübner.

The mill was demolished in May 2006 at a cost of 20,000 euros. It was faithfully rebuilt in the Stralsund zoo ; Work began in November 2009 in the zoo and ended with the official handover on May 26, 2011; in June 2012 windmill blades were installed. The mill now houses exhibits.
