Macro data

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Macro data are condensed ( aggregated ) and plausibility-checked statistical data. Macro data generally do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the original data ( microdata ) of statistical surveys.

Macro data are often available in different compression levels, e.g. B. per municipality, district and state. They are evaluated in several dimensions according to principles similar to business data in a data warehouse .

In contrast to a data warehouse, the methods for compressing and merging data are often much more complex. For example, automatically generated correction factors are included, missing or implausible data ( missing values ) are filled in with estimated or forecast values , etc. For data compression and evaluation, ROLAP - instead of MOLAP - are preferred .
