The most famous Malecón is located in the Cuban capital Havana . Construction began in 1901 on Paseo del Prado, which separates the old town from the Centro Habana district. In several construction phases, the Malecón was extended to the mouth of the Almendares River at the western end of the El Vedado district until 1952, where it still ends today.

Numerous representative structures were erected along the Malecón in the course of the 20th century, including luxury hotels, numerous monuments and the US embassy , which for over fifty years only had the status of a diplomatic interest group. Coordinates: 23 ° 8 ′ 30 "  N , 82 ° 22 ′ 5"  W.

Approximately in the middle of the Malécon is the "Hotel Nacional" , which is part of the world cultural heritage.
