The Club du Manège , or officially Réunion des Amis de la Liberté et de l'Égalité (German Association of Friends of Freedom and Equality ) was a neo-Jacobite club that was formally founded on July 26, 1799. The meeting place was the well-known Salle du Manège . The leader was Jean-Baptiste Drouet . The club quickly gained political influence. The Manege Club stood in stark contrast to the leading director of the Sieyes Directory . With his support for Napoleon's coup on 18th Brumaire , the association was heavily attacked and quickly lost its importance. At the latest with the proscription list of January 5, 1801, the club was finally smashed.
