Mano del Desierto

Mano del Desierto is an 11 m high iron and cement sculpture created in 1992 by Mario Irarrázabal in the Atacama Desert . The sculpture stands at an altitude of 1000 m above sea level. M. not far from the city of Antofagasta in the north of Chile . She admonishes to stop with the environmental sins so that the earth does not become a desert everywhere. It was financed by the local funding organization Corporación Pro Antofagasta . Since its inauguration on March 28, 1992, the sculpture has become a draw for tourists traveling on Route 5, which is part of the Panamericana .
