Marcus Bosch
Marcus Bosch (born October 28, 1969 in Heidenheim an der Brenz ) is a German conductor . From 2002 to 2012 he was General Music Director of the City of Aachen , from 2011 to 2018 General Music Director of the State Theater in Nuremberg . Bosch has also been artistic director of the Heidenheim Opera Festival since May 2009 . In October 2016, Marcus Bosch was appointed full professor of conducting at the Munich University of Music. In 2016 he was appointed first guest conductor of the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie, in 2018 he was appointed “Conductor in residence” of the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock.
Life
After studying in Heidelberg / Mannheim , Marcus Bosch decided on the path of the classical music director and developed a. a. in Osnabrück , Wiesbaden , Halle and Saarbrücken an extensive repertoire in symphonic and opera very early on .
In 1999 he was selected for the Handel Prize of the City of Halle at a seminar for young conductors led by Paul Goodwin as part of the Handel Festival .
As a guest he conducts with the Orchester National de Belgique, the Orchester Philharmonique du Luxembourg, the Orchestra Nazionale della RAI Torino, the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra , the MDR-Sinfonieorchester , the RSB and DSO Berlin, the Munich Philharmonic , the Saxon State Opera and Staatskapelle Dresden , the Theater Dortmund , the GöteborgsOperan and the Komische Oper Berlin .
He is now a permanent guest at the Hamburg State Opera. After his debut with Fidelio in September 2005, re-invitations for u. a. The Abduction from the Seraglio , Der Freischütz and Falstaff .
In October 2006, on the occasion of the presentation of the German ECHO Klassik music prize, Marcus Bosch conducted the Munich Philharmonic , an event that was broadcast live by ZDF and immediately led to a return to Munich.
With the Aachen Symphony Orchestra , Marcus Bosch has recorded works by Bruckner , Mahler , Mozart , Verdi and Wagner , among others . His interpretations of Bruckner's symphonies in particular have received a high degree of international recognition. Marcus Bosch also belongs to the group of conductors who recorded Bruckner's 3rd Symphony in the original version from 1873.
In the 2011/2012 season, Marcus Bosch succeeded chief conductor Christof Prick at the State Theater in Nuremberg , and at the same time he also fulfilled his obligations in Aachen during this season. Kazem Abdullah Bosch succeeded him in Aachen for the 2012/2013 season .
After the 2017/2018 season, Bosch left the State Theater in Nuremberg and has since devoted himself to teaching in Munich as a full-time professor, including as director of the university orchestra - in addition to his other professional obligations as festival director and guest conductor.
From the 2020/2021 season, Bosch will be chief conductor of the North German Philharmonic in Rostock and will thus also be responsible for the orchestra of the Rostock Volkstheater.
