Mario Brkljača (born February 7, 1985 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian football player . He has been without a club since summer 2016.

Career

Mario Brkljača began his professional career at the beginning of the 2003/04 season at NK Zagreb , for whom he played in his youth. Since 2004/05 he was a regular in midfield and ran for the club in 128 games in the Croatian first division , in which he scored 12 goals. In January 2009 he moved to Hajduk Split. In the summer of 2009 he was awarded a Serie A to Cagliari Calcio . There he was not used and only sat on the bench a few times. He returned to Split and was part of the team in the 2010/11 season .

At the beginning of 2012 he left Hajduk and moved to FK Sibir Novosibirsk in the Russian 1st Division . He was only used irregularly there and often on the bench. In early 2014 he joined the Austrian second division club SV Mattersburg . In the summer of 2014, his contract was not renewed and he was without a club for six months before he was accepted by ZSKA Sofia in early 2015 . He made seven appearances - mostly as a substitute. CSKA had to relegate after the 2014/15 season , so that Brkljača remained without a club again. In September 2015 he was hired by NK Krka , who played in the Slovenian first division . The club was relegated at the end of the 2015/16 season . Since then, Brkljača has been without a club.

National team

For the Croatian U-21 national football team Brkljača played his first game on November 9, 2004 in a friendly against Slovenia and scored his first goal.
