Marquartsurfar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marquartsurfar (also: Marquardsurfahr or Marquartsufer ) is a remote place near Donaudorf in Lower Austria .

history

The Bavarian Mallersdorf monastery owned five vineyards here since 1134. Martinskirche, which originally belonged to the Krems parish , was transferred to the St. Georgen an der Traisen monastery in the second half of the 12th century . Marquartsurfar was detached from the Krems parish as a separate parish. The church must have been so affected by a flood of the Danube in 1335 that a new church had to be built in Haitzendorf . In today's Danube village there is a varnish that is said to have been replaced by the parish church of Marquardsurfar that has disappeared.
