Marromeu

Marromeu is a town on the south bank of the Zambezi , not far from the river delta, with 39,409 inhabitants (2007) and a district in the Sofala province in Mozambique, Southeast Africa. The city has a rail link and a small airfield. The Inhamitanga -Marromeu railway connection was due to reopen in October / November 2013 after a lengthy renovation and is of some importance for the transport of goods, especially domestic sugar cane.

Marromeu is one of the 53 municipalities in the state - since 2013 - in which local elections are held and a separate mayor is elected.
