Mary H. Ellis

Mary H. Ellis (* before 1987) is a sound engineer .

Career

Mary H. Ellis began working for the film staff in 1987 and was responsible for the sound recordings for Eyes on the Prize , a documentary television series. She then worked as a sound mixer for television films, among other things. She also pursued this activity in the films RoboCop 3 , Pfundskerle and Andersonville . For her performance in the television film Andersonville , she and her colleagues received a nomination at the Primetime Emmy Awards .

In 2005 she received a Primetime Emmy Award for her work for the film Warm Springs , directed by Joseph Sargent and starring Kenneth Branagh as Franklin D. Roosevelt and Cynthia Nixon as Eleanor Roosevelt .

For her artistic achievement in the film Baby Driver , she and her colleagues Tim Cavagin and Julian Slater have received numerous nominations at award ceremonies. At the British Academy Film Awards 2018 , she and her colleagues received a nomination for “Best Sound”, but the award was given to the competition for their work on the film Dunkirk . In addition, the three received an Oscar nomination in the same category at the 2018 Academy Awards .

In her career she has worked with several directors, including Peter and Bobby Farrelly ( Anything Goes - A Week Without Rules , Dumb and Dumber ), Kevin Hooks ( Fled , Black Dog ), Joe Johnston ( October Sky , Hidalgo ) and Jon Avnet ( Green Tomatoes , The Tree House , Uprising ).
