Masamichi Satō

Masamichi Satō ( Japanese. 佐藤 昌 道 , Masamichi Satō ) is a Japanese cameraman who worked between 1956 and 1974 and mainly abroad for his work for the American-Japanese co-production Tora! Torah! Torah! got known.

life and career

Masamichi Satō has been active in the Japanese film business since the mid-1950s, first as a cameraman for the short film Ōjo to yubiwa - Indo shigeki 'Shakuntarā hime' yori , and later in the 1960s also for cinema productions such as the drama Matsukawa Jiken by director Satsuo Yamamoto or for Productions by the director Kōzaburō Yoshimura . In 1971 he was named next to his colleagues Charles F. Wheeler , Osami Furuya and Shinsaku Himeda for his camera work on the Japanese episodes for the war film Tora! Torah! Torah! honored with an Oscar nomination and a Laurel Award nomination.
