Master of Iserlohn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The master of Iserlohn was a painter who probably worked in southern Westphalia in the middle of the 15th century . Since his real name is unknown, he is named with an emergency name after his main work, the painted exterior of the Gothic high altar of the Supreme City Church of Iserlohn . His painting style suggests artistic influence from the immediate vicinity of the painter Robert Campin from Flanders . The narrative style of the master von Iserlohn can be seen as an independent variant of the early realism in Westphalia.
