Menhir of Greenville
The Menhir of Greenville stands in the townland of Greenville or Garryduff ( Irish An Garraí Dubh ) northwest of Clara in the north of County Offaly , near the border with County Westmeath in Ireland .
The menhir ( English standing stone ) is located on a low natural hill in a gently rolling landscape, behind the garden of a house. It is a rectangular stone made of slate leaning to the east , 3.3 m high, 1.85 m wide, 0.43 m thick and oriented northeast-southwest. There is evidence of packing stones at its base. Excavations have been carried out but the results have not yet been published.
To the north, in the neighboring townland, is the very crooked menhir of Shanballynakill .
