Under Merger Monday is meant in the financial sector a Monday with exceptionally many company takeovers and acquisitions. The reason why one speaks of Merger Monday and not of e.g. B. a Merger Tuesday , is that in the USA takeovers are usually negotiated at the weekend and announced on Mondays. The term is mainly used in the Anglo-Saxon language area , but is sometimes also used in German media.
