Mesolect

As mesolect the designated Strataforschung language forms in the "continuum" between basilect and acrolect . The mesolect has neither special prestige nor a distinctive stigma. Originally it was a weakened form of a strong Creole dialect that has approximated the standard language .

The term was introduced by Derek Bickerton in the early 1970s .
