Meteor (juggling)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The meteor is a juggling device that consists of two weights connected by a piece of rope. The origins lie in the Chinese circus and martial arts. The elements of the meteor game are related to the rod turning and the Poi swing . In the traditional form, water bowls are used as weights.

Rotation and centrifugal force pull the weights in a circle opposite to the outside and stretch the rope. One-handed guidance is based on an eccentric movement. The rope is gripped above the middle of the rope and guided around the center of the circular path on which the two weights run.

Most simple poi figures can be performed with both hands. The follow-patterns from the Poischwingen are possible with one hand, such as 2 Beat Wave or Wind Mill. Analogous to the rod turning, the meteor can be thrown and rolled over the body. In addition, wraps are possible in which the rope unwinds and unwinds on the arms.
