Bodice
Metsieder , also Metler , in Middle High German also mët-briuwer , made a drink similar to wine from honey, spices (anise, cloves) and water, which was formerly drunk all over Europe. In the Middle Ages, however, beer pushed back honey wine or mead . The mixture of one part honey and a maximum of two parts water is boiled and fermented with fresh yeast after skimming and cooling.
