Michael Friebe

Michael Friebe (* 1964 ) is a German engineer, medical technology entrepreneur and business angel . From 2014 to 2019 he held the chair for intelligent catheters and image-guided therapy at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg .

Career

After studying electrical engineering, he spent five years as a development engineer and developer in San Francisco and after his return in 1993 he founded and managed Neuromed GmbH (later AG) in Castrop-Rauxel, which he became the largest provider of mobile diagnostic systems (MRI, CT, Catheter measuring stations, PET / CT) to UMS AG. He then founded Tomovation AG, which was sold to Alliance Medical in 2008.

He has been an active business angel since 2004 and was inducted into the BA Hall of Fame by the Business Angel Network Germany in 2006 and then voted Germany's Business Angel of the Year in 2011.

Friebe has registered around 80 patents / property rights. He was also involved in around 150 publications.

He is also Honorary Professor at the MISR University of Science and Technology in Egypt, Adjunct Professor for Biomedical Engineering at Queensland University of Technology, Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies. of the Technical University of Munich and since 2016 Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE
