Michael Hering

Michael Hering (* 1964 ) is a German art historian .

Michael Hering studied art history and German in Osnabrück, Hamburg, Paris and Jena. In 2003 he received his doctorate from the University of Jena with a thesis on Wols' graphic oeuvre . He then worked as a research assistant at the graphic collection of the Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg and the Sprengel Museum in Hanover. From 2010 he was curator for drawing, graphics and photography at the Kupferstichkabinett of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden , from 2014 deputy director there. Since January 1, 2016, he has been the director of the State Collection of Graphics in Munich .
