The Michaelskirche is a Protestant church in the Martinsviertel in Darmstadt . The church was named after the Archangel Michael . The associated parish belongs to the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau .

Architecture and history

The Michaelskirche, built in the style of post-war modernism , was consecrated in 1960. The church building with a rectangular floor plan was built in the cubist style with external walls made of quarry stone masonry with a gable roof .

The free-standing bell tower is made of reinforced concrete . The tower is temporarily illuminated in color .

Monument protection

The Michael church stands since 2015, as a typical example of the architecture of the 1960s in Darmstadt, under monument protection .
