DVR-MS ( Microsoft Digital Video Recording ) is a container file format recordings in Windows Media Center of Windows . This file format includes an MPEG-2 video file with an MPEG-2 audio file attached. This file format was developed by Microsoft .

use

The television recordings of the Windows Media Center in the Windows operating system have this extension. A data rate of up to 20 megabits per second is supported. It can be played in Windows Media Player version 9 or higher, which is included in Service Pack 1 for Windows XP , in conjunction with an additional DVD decoder .

history

This file format was first used in Windows XP Media Center Edition . In Windows XP (Home or Professional) this format is only available from Service Pack 1. In Windows Vista it was replaced by the Microsoft Windows recorded TV program format , also called Windows TV file (file extension: wtv ) (English: Windows Media Center Record File).
