The microphone of wire is a carbon rollers microphone earlier French telephone . It was made by Clément Ader from Paris . It is characterized by its simplicity and powerful effect; structurally it corresponds largely to the Hughes microphone .

functionality

4–5 carbon sticks are loosely embedded between two transverse pieces of coal with corresponding holes; there are usually two such systems combined on one soundboard.

The microphone by de Locht-Labye in Liège, called the Pantelephon by the inventor, has also proven to be extremely sensitive. The main thing consists of a thin plate made of aluminum, thin sheet iron , sheet steel, mica or cork wood, about 15 cm long, suspended from a frame with the upper side vertically , on the lower side of which a small carbon plate is riveted, opposite the frame attachment, which is in loose contact with a silver or platinum plate. The setting of the contact can be done easily and safely by means of spring fastenings and adjusting screws.
