Millier (unit)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Millier , also referred to as bar, was a unit of mass and was counted as part of the old French commercial weight.

  • 1 millier = 10 quintaux / quintals = 1000 livres = 3 ⅓ charges / load = 489.5058 kilograms
  • 2 Millier = 1 Tonneau de mer (ship's barrel, old)

With the introduction of the metric system, the Millier metrique was set at 1000 kilograms. However, the measure only applied when specifying ship loads.
