Mister Spex in Berlin

The Mister Spex GmbH , headquartered in Berlin district Berg Prenzlauer is the largest online optician Germany and Europe. Furthermore, due to its multichannel sales concept, Mister Spex is one of the pioneers in the online marketing industry for optical products.

Companies

The company offers glasses , sunglasses , contact lenses and matching care products through its own websites. In addition to Germany , Mister Spex is also active in Austria , France , Great Britain , Spain , the Netherlands and Switzerland and in July 2013 also took over the Swedish online eyewear company Lensstore, which now operates in Norway , Finland and Sweden under the Mister Spex brand , as well as the Norwegian contact lens retailer Lensit in January 2015.

The company pursues a multichannel approach, which is used in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Sweden. This concept includes the cooperation with 500 local partner opticians. These can handle basic services that cannot be carried out online, such as the eye test or glasses adjustments.

The first stationary store opened in Berlin in 2016 as an in-house shop. In the following year, further stores followed in Berlin-Steglitz, Oberhausen, Bremen, Bochum and Dortmund. In 2018 branches opened in the Main-Taunus-Zentrum in Sulzbach in Erfurt and in Münster.

history

The company was founded in December 2007 by Dirk Graber, Björn Sykora, Philipp Frenkel and Thilo Hardt with the aim of promoting the eyewear online trade, which was previously rarely present in Germany, with a simple online shopping model for glasses. In 2013 and 2015, the company expanded its field of activity and took over the online eyewear shops Lensstore and Loveyewear in Sweden and the Norwegian contact lens manufacturer Lensit.

The company is a member of the Deutsche Börse Venture Network, which aims to connect companies with potential investors. The current investors are, according to their own statements, Scottish Equity Partners, Goldman Sachs , Grazia Equity, XAnge, DN Capital and High-Tech Gründerfonds .
