Member of the Federal Audit Office

Member of the Federal Audit Office is the official name for the senior officials of the Federal Audit Office (BRH). According to Section 3 (1) of the Federal Audit Office (BRHG), this includes the President, the Vice-President, the heads of the (currently nine) audit departments and the audit area managers (currently for approx. 50 audit areas). They have judicial independence ( Article 114, Paragraph 2, Clause 1 of the Basic Law , Section 3, Paragraph 4 of the BRHG). The provisions on independence and disciplinary measures applicable to judges at the highest federal courts apply accordingly.

The President and Vice President are appointed temporary officials . Their term of office is twelve years, but ends at the latest when the general statutory age limit for civil servants is reached. All members must be qualified for a career in the higher service ; The president, vice-president and at least one third of the other members must also be qualified to hold judicial office ( Section 3 (3) BRHG).

The members of the Court of Auditors (around 60 of the around 1200 employees of the BRH) take the decisions of the BRH in the form of various "colleges" (two or three- person colleges, § 9 BRHG; Senate, § 11 BRGH; Large Senate, § 13 BRHG). Decisions in the college of two and three are only made unanimously, the senates and the grand senate decide by majority vote.
