In an indirect party , party members do not acquire all or most of their membership by joining the party as such, but indirectly ( indirectly ) through one of its sub-organizations or associations. It is to be distinguished from mere electoral alliances .
The sub-organizations are usually strengthened by this structure to the detriment of centralism . A well-known example is the Austrian People's Party .
