Midnight point

The midnight point is a term from spherical astronomy and is the northern intersection of the noon line with the horizon. The term is now out of date and is more commonly known as north point and colloquially also called north . It designated one of the four main or cardinal points (Latin: plagae cardinales ) through which the four regions of the world (today: cardinal points ) were determined.
