Mobilier national
The national mobilier has been a state institution in France since 1936 , which has the task of equipping the palais of the French president and other important institutions of the state with high-quality furniture and carpets from French production. The national Mobilier is subordinate to the Ministry of Culture and Communication and has its seat at rue Berbier-du-Mets No. 1 in Paris .

The national mobilier has the task of storing and restoring over 100,000 pieces of furniture and carpets that were made to order or purchased on the art market. Appropriate workshops are available for the restoration, also for the care of bronze luster .
Modern design
Under the Minister of Culture André Malraux , the Atelier de recherche et de création (ARC) was created in 1964 , which commissions designers to design modern furniture.
