A Mongkon ( Thai : มงคล , also Mongkhon or Mong Kon ) is a headgear that is worn by Muay Thai athletes in the traditional dance, the Wai Khru Ram Muay , before the fight.

The fighters believe that wearing the Mongkon as an amulet will bring them success and protect them from danger. The athletes receive the Mongkon from the trainer if he is convinced of the skills they have learned. The Mongkon should never come close to the ground or even directly on the ground, as it should then lose its strength. Mongons are usually only worn in Thailand, in other countries such as Cambodia or Burma, wearing is not common.
