Monte Ulia cable car

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The cable car on Monte Ulia in San Sebastián was one of the first aerial cableways for passenger transport in the world.

history

It went into operation in 1907 and within three minutes it carried 14 people in the gondola to the 224-meter-high Monte Ulia , which at the time was an amusement park. The Monte Ulia cable car had only one gondola suspended from six ropes. Of these six ropes, three were arranged in pairs. As early as 1912, the number of passengers carried fell again after another amusement park was opened on Monte Igeldo . In the 1920s, operations were discontinued due to unprofitability.
