from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Moshi moshi ( Japanese も し も し ) is a greeting used mainly on the phone in Japan . It is derived from the verb mōsu ( 申 す , dt. "(Something) to tell").

For the first time, moshi moshi was used in the first successful Japanese telephone experiment and then became popular in society. The term is now part of the Japanese polite language and is used by both the called party and the caller.
