Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park
The Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park ( German Thundering Smoke National Park ) is located in the south of Zambia on the border with Zimbabwe and also includes the Victoria Falls , which attract many visitors every year. He is since 1989 part of the UNESCO - World Heritage Mosi-oa-Tunya / Victoria Falls .
It stretches along the upper reaches of the Zambezi from Victoria Falls to about twelve kilometers upstream. With around 66 km² the park is quite small, but offers good opportunities to observe wild animals such as antelopes, zebras, giraffes, elephants and rhinos.
You can explore the park in a few hours on a tour along the river, as a self-drive or in organized groups. Mosi-oa-Tunya is very well developed for vehicles, so that every tourist with a rental car can pass it. Many animal species were once largely extinct, so that there were neither rhinos nor big cats. They have now been resettled.
