The Mosque Maryam ( German  Marienmoschee , formerly the Church of St. Constantine and Helena ) is one of the largest mosques in Chicago . It is the main mosque of the Nation of Islam (NOI) movement and bears the name of Mary , the mother of Jesus.

The building at 7351 S. Stony Island Avenue was originally a Greek Orthodox Church ( Church of Sts. Constantine and Helena ) and was acquired in 1972 by the leader of the NOI Elijah Muhammad . Today it serves as the residence of Louis Farrakhan .

Although it is considered a mosque, the original church stalls are still used. Next to the mosque is the Muhammad University of Islam .
