Mousse (racing)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mousse (that, from French la mousse - "foam") is a ring made of foam developed by Michelin and used in racing, which is placed around the rim as a tube replacement. The mousse offers a higher level of protection against tire damage, for example from broken nails. However, there are also disadvantages. The mousse wears out faster in extreme use or dissolves into its components and can thus become a problem on long rally stages. Another disadvantage is the high price.
